How does an Atheist define violence and why is it wrong in the Atheistic worldview?

One word: empathy. I don't want to be hurt or killed, I don't want my family/friends hurt or killed, and as a result, I am horrified by the thought of violence. I would never hurt anyone in a way that I can see in an empathetic way.
